What kind of iPads do the students use?

All 1:1 devices are iPad 2s with 16GB of storage and Wifi only.

Are the iPads insured?

1:1 iPads are covered by AppleCare+. This service provides full device replacement in the case of accidental damage, including liquid damage. The charge for replacement is $49.  While our school's general insurance technically covers theft, it has a $500 deductible - the cost of two iPad 2s.  iPads are not insured against negligent loss.
