Contributing to an Online Encyclopedia

"Crowd sourcing" is one of the most interesting and useful ideas to come out of Web 2.0 ideology. Wikipedia.org is the most popular example of this idea.  On Wikipedia, thousands of people contribute to an ever growing encyclopedia of information.  People who are experts in a field can offer their own knowledge and insights to improve the encyclopedia or update it to reflect recent changes.  It turns out that everyone at school has expert knowledge of a page that needs updating: Christ the King School in Pleasant Hill, CA!

Wiki Markup

Wikipedia uses its own code to mark up text.  Mark up is how Wikipedia and the web browser know, for example, that some text should be bold, and some text should be a link.  Here are two guides to Wikipedia markup:
